The Irish Museum of Modern Art both collects and showcases modern and contemporary art. It is a great opportunity to see some modern pieces if you are an art lover. This museum is famous for its Victorian cabinet style, which houses one of the world’s finest and fullest collections still to be seen today. This zoological museum encompasses outstanding examples of wildlife from Ireland and the far corners of the globe, some to be seen today and others long extinct. Chester Beatty Library is a museum that displays exhibit manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books, and some decorative arts from the Persian, Islamic, East Asian, and Western Collections. The National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin boasts some 2,500 paintings and approximately 10,000 other works in different media including watercolours, drawings, prints, and sculpture. 14 February is Valentine’s Day: the day of lovers. Emerald also wants to celebrate together with the students. For this reason, we thought of organising a cake challenge to spend a “sweet” moment all together. The judges will taste the cakes made by the students during the break and then declare the winner. But more importantly, we will have the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic cakes.
The Phoenix Park is one of the largest enclosed public parks in any capital city in Europe. The Park is also home to the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre, Áras an Uachtaráin, Dublin Zoo, Victorian Flower Gardens, a Biodiversity Information Centre, Phoenix Café and Tea Rooms. Paid Activities
Constructed in the early thirteenth century on the site of a Viking settlement, Dublin Castle served for centuries as the headquarters of English, and later British, administration in Ireland. In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, Dublin Castle was handed over to the new Irish government. Please sign up for this activity by Wednesday. The Guinness Storehouse is Ireland’s number visitor attraction. Not only do we offer a special discounted price for ECI students, but we also provide an ECI guide to accompany students to the venue. The tour lasts about 1 hour and finishes up on the seventh floor, in the Gravity Bar with some specular views of Dublin and of course, a complimentary pint of Guinness. The modern sport of axe throwing involves a competitor throwing an axe at a target, attempting to hit the bullseye as near as possible. Axe throwing has historically been an event in lumberjack competitions. All groups have their own axe throwing lane(s) and a coach that will teach you to throw an axe safely. The Book of Kells is the centrepiece of an exhibition which attracts over 500,000 visitors to Trinity College in Dublin City each year. Written around the year 800 AD, the Book of Kells contains a richly decorated copy of the four gospels in a Latin text, based on the Vulgate edition (completed by St. Jerome in 384 AD).
