FOR INFORMATION ON GETTING YOUR FIRST STUDENT VISA AT IMMIGRATION [INIS] AND REQUESTING AN INIS LETTER, PLEASE SEE BELOW –
STEP 1: Make an Appointment
IIf you are resident in Dublin city or county and wish to register a permission for the first time, you will need to make your appointment online through the new INIS portal. Please go to this page: Burgh Quay appointments – Immigration Service Delivery and register for a customer service account. You will need to take a photo of your driver’s license or passport to register.
After your account has been registered, you will then need to input various details about yourself, such as your passport details and a valid email address. It will then ask you to choose an appointment date and time from the ones available.
You must be 18 years old on the day of your INIS appointment! If you are 17, you will need to go with a parent!
STEP 2: Get these things for your Appointment
1. Passport
2. 300 euro to pay INIS fee (debit / credit card is best)
3. ECI INIS letter (collect it from the Student Welfare Office)
4. Medical Insurance
5. Learner Protection Insurance Policy – only AYP (says ‘STUDY & PROTECT’ on it)
6. *Turkish, Omani, Saudi, Chinese and other students holding a valid entry visa do not need to provide bank statements*
1 Irish Bank Statement (≤ 30 days old with €4,680)
OR
2 non-Irish Bank Statements (one ≤ 30 days old with €4,680, one ≤ 6 months old with any balance) (bring your debit/credit card also).
– You can use a screenshot photo of your online bank account if you only have 1 bank statement. Show the 2 at INIS.
STEP 3: Request your ECI INIS Letter
Please request your INIS Letter below. We would advise you to request your letter 1 week before your appointment at INIS. It is important that you provide the address where you will be living at on the day of your INIS appointment.
STEP 4: Go to INIS

You will not get your Immigration Card (IRP Card) on the day of your appointment. It takes up to 10 working days to be delivered by post.
However, your passport will be stamped with your Visa Stamp on the day of your appointment allowing you to work from that day on.
STEP 5: Please email a photo of both sides of your IRP Card
Please email studentwelfare@eci.ie a photo of both sides of your IRP Card. We need this for our records. Please include your ECI ID number.
