The Student Welfare Officer is available at all times to assist our students, both newly arrived and settled. They provide important advice and information on finding accommodation and work in Ireland and all other welfare needs during our students’ time in Emerald. The Student Welfare Officer is also responsible for our rich and varied Social and Cultural Programme which all our students can join.
We take the welfare and well-being of all our students very seriously. As such, we assign a country-specific academic tutor to each of our long-term students, for the duration of your programme.
They will meet with you in your first week of study at Emerald and explain the way in which the academic programme is structured and make a note of any of your personal academic needs and goals (particular exams etc). Your mentor will then schedule monthly meetings for the remainder of your stay with us.
Your personal mentor checks in with you regularly through a series of monthly meetings in order to review and assess your course objectives. At the same time, your class teacher will provide your mentor with an academic report in advance of any of these meetings. Of course, your mentors, teachers and the Director of Studies are always available for a consultation or assistance, outside of your scheduled meetings. We encourage you to
meet and consult with both your mentor and our Academic team in order to discuss your
further study options.
We offer a number of services for students planning to join any foundation or university programme. Our academic team is available to help you with the following:
1. Advice and assistance from our academic team with an individual mentoring service
for each student.
2. Identifying the specific requirements and English-language level needed.
3. Assistance in completing college applications.
4. Submission of documents and application forms.
