Residence Supervisor

JOB TITLE: Residence Supervisor

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Looking after students staying in our Residence in Dublin. Ensuring the welfare and safety of students and the smooth and successful promotion and delivery of the evening activities programme, ensuring that students aged 11-17 years are motivated, and that all activities are run to a high standard.

REPORTS TO: Residence Duty Manager

DATES: Middle of June – Middle of August

LOCATION: Campuses across the City Centre, Rathgar and Ranelagh areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Residence Duty Manager in planning, implementing, and supervising the evening activity program.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times, maintaining student behaviour, and ensuring residence rules are followed by monitoring students on-site.
  • Support the smooth operation of the residence, ensuring students enjoy their stay.
  • Create an inclusive and entertaining atmosphere for all students, ensuring that all students feel included and encouraging them to take part in the activities.
  • Be willing to deal with unexpected emergencies during the night and provide leadership as needed.
  • Perform pre-arrival and final inspections of apartments and assist with arrivals and departures of students, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Welcome students and group leaders on their first day, explaining health and safety procedures, residence rules, and providing an orientation of the residence.
  • Report any property damage promptly to the Duty Manager.
  • Perform nightly room checks, ensuring students are in their rooms by curfew.
  • Supervise breakfast and dinner times.
  • Manage activity materials and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and returned after use.
  • Maintain effective communication between the Residence Duty Manager, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and suppliers.
  • Complete administration records of students and report on any issues.
  • Assist with administrative duties as required by the office staff.
  • Collaborate with the Residence Duty Manager, Educational Tour Operators, and accreditation inspectors to observe and evaluate accommodation standards.
  • Support the setup and closure of the residence.
  • Attend all required training sessions, including the All Staff Training Day and Tusla Child Protection Training.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience in a similar role, customer service, supervising, and/or administration.
  • Must enjoy working with children and young adults.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland.
  • Must have Garda Vetting Certification.
  • Fluent verbal and written English skills..
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and able to motivate students.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must be a Team Player with a ‘can-do attitude’.
  • Must have completed all Online Training Modules.
  • Must attend the All Staff Training Day.
  • Must complete Tusla Child Protection Training.
  • Must be available to work in July 2025.
  • Must be able to commute to the City Centre, Rathgar and Ranelagh.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experience in a similar role, customer service, supervision, or administration.
  • Knowledge of the ECI activities programme.
  • Driving licence.
  • Experience in residential care or activity supervision.
  • Knowledge of fostering inclusive and engaging group activities.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

  • This position includes full-board residential accommodation.
  • Five evening shifts per week, 5:00 pm – 9:00 am the following morning.
  • Two non-scheduled nights per week (may vary).
  • Weekend day shifts for arrivals and departures as rostered by the Residence Duty Manager.
  • Additional hours may be required, including coverage for night-time arrivals and departures.
  • Availability to work throughout July 2025.
  • Ability to commute to City Centre, Rathgar, and Ranelagh.

SALARY:

  • Commensurate with experience.
