 We are currently recruiting outgoing, energetic and responsible Summer Staff.

We have a range of temporary positions for summer 2018, from introductory level part-time Activity Leaders to full-time Centre Managers. Full-board accommodation is available in our residential centres. The vacancies require engaging, inventive, inquisitive and accountable people to create a memorable educational and cultural experience for our students.

If you have an interest in working with young people, a background in sports coaching, teaching, tour guiding or event management, or have experience working in summer camps we could have a position that is right for you. All candidates must be fluent in English.

Open positions are described below.

Teachers
Temporary, Part-time or Full-time combined with Activity Leader role.

Teachers are responsible for the successful implementation of the EFL curriculum in our summer centres.
 
Some key duties include:
 - Preparing and teaching general English classes, special group classes or one-to-one lessons as assigned by the DOS in agreement with the teacher.
- Keeping clear, detailed class-records describing structures, functions & lexis covered, making reference to activities and materials used.
- Administering regular checks on learner's progress through progress tests & evaluation.
- Keeping daily attendance records and completing student reports.
- Attending teacher’s meetings.
- Creating a positive learning environment, ensuring all students feel included.

The successful candidates will be team-players and will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential requirements
- Primary degree (minimum level 7 on the NFQ)
- ACELS/QQI recognised or certified TEFL qualification (details available on www.qqi.ie) 

Desirable requirements
- Previous teaching experience.

Centre Manager
Temporary, Full time

The Centre Manager will be responsible for the successful implementation of an EFL programme for junior students and the smooth running of all aspects of the summer centre.
 
Some key duties include: 
- Overall responsibility for the day to day management of the centre.
- Manage the team of Emerald staff at the centre, creating the staff roster and developing a friendly and co-operative atmosphere.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities, are carrying them out in a professional manner and to conduct performance reviews.
- Promote a responsible attitude to student safeguarding, welfare and supervision amongst the staff.
- Establish and maintain effective communication between the centre, the clients and head office.
- Implement ECI policies/instructions, effectively communicating them to clients, staff and venue as necessary.

The successful candidates will be proactive and diligent and will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

Essential requirements
  • - Administration experience.
  • - Computer Literate (Particularly MS Excel).
  • - Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems.
  • - Ability to work well within a team.
  • - Functions well working on own, capable of using initiative.

Centre Assistant
Temporary, Full-time

The Centre Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Centre Manager in the smooth running of all aspects of the centre, establishing procedures, solving problems quickly and efficiently and reporting to the Centre Manager.

Some key duties include: 
- To ensure safety and welfare of all students.
- To assist Centre Manager liaising with Group Leaders ensuring satisfaction and addressing any issues that may arise.
- To communicate with head office confirming group numbers and guide names for weekend excursions.
- Providing all required paperwork for head office, on time and as required.
- To ensure effective communication with students and Group Leaders using notice boards and meetings to inform of activities, meeting points and times.

The successful candidates will be capable and efficient and will demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

Residence Duty Manager
Full-Time,Temporary

The Duty Manager is appointed to ensure the smooth operation of our Student Residence and is responsible for the team of Residential Supervisors and the welfare of our students.
 
Some key duties include: 
- Overall responsibility for the day to day management of the residence.
- Manage the team of Emerald Residence Supervisors, creating the staff roster and developing a friendly and co-operative atmosphere.
- Planning ahead with Head Office rooming allocations, catering numbers & arrival and departures.
- Implementing and supervising evening activity programme for students.
- Liaising with Group Leaders ensuring satisfaction with the programme and addressing any issues that may arise.

The successful candidates will be friendly and thorough and will demonstrate excellent leadership and attention to detail.

Essential requirements
- Administration experience.
- Computer Literate (Particularly MS Excel).
- Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems.
- Excellent organisation and communication skills.
 
Desirable requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience supervising/working with children/young people.
- Understanding of the student residence environment.

Sports Coordinator
Temporary, Part-time

The Sports Coordinator will be responsible for devising, implementing and running of the sports programmes in the centre, reporting to the Centre Manager.
 
Some key duties include:
- Devise a varied and interesting sports programme of both indoor and outdoor sports.
- Monitor and maintain proper field and facility conditions and set up equipment for games and activities along with the Sports Assistant.
- Implement the sports activities with students between the ages of 11 & 17 years of age.
- Maintain student behaviour and ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times. The successful candidates will be organised and energetic and will demonstrate excellent sports coaching skills.

Essential requirements
  • - Excellent knowledge of rules and organisation of sports/games.
  • - Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • - Experience supervising/working with children/young people.
Desirable requirements

Activity Leader
Temporary, Part-Time

The Activity Leader will be responsible for successful promotion and delivery of the activities programme, ensuring students, aged 11-17, are motivated and all activities are run to a high standard. 
 
Some key duties include:
- Lead and supervise on and off site activities and excursions, through active participation.
- Maintain student behaviour and ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times.
- Be prepared and fully informed for the activities and tours.
- Pro-actively encourage students to take part in the activities.
- Assist in general with the smooth running of the centre, ensuring the students enjoy their stay.

The successful candidates will be an enthusiastic team player and will demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Essential requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Enjoys working with children and young adults.
- Ability to work in high pressure environment.

Desirable requirements
- Experience in a similar role, customer service, supervising, administration.
- Knowledge and interest in Irish and Dublin history.

Residence Supervisor
Temporary, Part-Time

The Residential Supervisor is appointed to look after students staying in our Residence in Dublin is responsible for the
welfare of the students in the residence.  They are also responsible for the smooth and successful promotion and delivery of the evening activities programme, ensuring students, aged 11-17, are motivated and all activities are run to a high standard. 
 
Some key duties include: 
- Assisting the Residence Duty Manager in planning, implementing and supervising of evening activity programme.
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of students at all times, maintaining student behaviour and guaranteeing rules and regulations of Residence are followed by monitoring students on site.
- Assist in general with the smooth running of the residence, ensuring the students enjoy their stay.
- Create a positive and entertaining atmosphere for all students, ensuring all students feel included and pro-actively encourage students to take part in the activities.
- Being willing to deal with any unexpected emergency that may occur in the Residence during the night.

The successful candidates will be caring and enthusiastic and will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
