English Language School for students & professionals

Your First Day at Emerald

Arrival at Emerald Cultural Institute –
On your first morning, students are directed to their study centre of our school, Emerald Cultural Institute.

Welcome & Introduction –
When you arrive at Emerald, you will receive a warm welcome at our Reception and be directed to your initial level test.

Initial Level Test –
Students are given a written and oral test on the first day of their course and placed in a class appropriate to their level of English. This allows us to decide on the best class for you. Student progress is monitored on an ongoing basis by our Director of Studies and class teachers who adjust levels accordingly.

Student Welfare Induction –
On your first day, students will meet our Student Welfare Officer, who is responsible for all non-academic queries and can help you settle in to our school. The Welfare Officer will be happy to assist you during your time at Emerald.

Student Identity Card & Welcome Kit –

All Emerald students are issued with an individualised Emerald student card and Welcome kit. This card carries information on their name, course, course dates and accommodation. Students should carry this with them at all times.
The welcome kit contains maps and useful information for your time in Dublin.

Student Facilities –
All students are welcome and encouraged to make use of our student facilities, including a Multi-Media Centre, Language Laboratory, Self-Access Library, Wi-Fi, Reading Room, Garden and Fully-Serviced Canteen

City-Centre Orientation –
As part of your Emerald course, all students are offered a guided walking tour of Dublin city-centre on their first afternoon at Emerald. We encourage you to participate in this and familiarise yourself with Dublin.

Please note that according to Irish law, smoking is prohibited inside all public buildings and workplaces.
